Hey y'all! Check it out!

I just recently stumbled on to Charmaine Clamor's tunes.  And I had to share! I was amused and appreciated what Clamor was attempting to say overall about internalized self-hate and oppression. If I were doing a decolonization 101 class, I'd definitely use this piece to stir the good old identity politics pot.

While I'm not fond of the faux afro in the music video above-- I think the subtext of the kinky hair confuses the message with a racist stereotype-- I do think she offers one starting point for a conversation that regrettably has not gone away.

(That said, maybe I shouldn't be too critical and
just appreciate the wig as a homage to Angela Davis ?)
