Home at last!
I arrived yesterday in Manila around 10 last night. Thankfully, I zipped through customs and then, was greeted by my mother, father, and uncle who were waiting for me outside.
It's so exciting to return-and a bit overwhelming. Driving at night, the city is as I remember it-just filled with more and more malls and more and more bill board signs, Jollibees, Kentucky Fried Chickens, and other signs of conspicous consumption.
It's been 10 years since my last visit. And I am looking forward to the stories that will emerge from one on one time with my parents. I need to pinch myself- I can't believe it, still.
A large part of my heart is still in Hawaii as I am awaiting to hear the results of the primary caucus. Spent last week, making tons and tons of calls to get folks out. I've got Obama fever and can't stop thinking or talking about it.
