What I'm reading
Here are two guidebooks, for Pukengkeng Liberation, that I have immersed myself in lately:
The Surrender, by Toni Bentley
Mating in Captivity: Reconciling the Erotic and the Domestic, by Esther Perel
Both are refreshing and intelligent commentaries on sex in and out of marriage and both seem to literally straddle the erotic places many woman have difficulty admitting and honoring in themselves and with their partners. Books like these acknowledge the legacy of puritanism and modern hedonism that seem to collide.
For me, Bentley and Perel give me words and a frame for the dance of balancing emotional security and sensual desire. Look forward to sharing more soon. But for now, I encourage folks to go check it out. I got my copies at the local library!
